Infants
We accept infants ages 2 months - 2 years into our infant classroom. This classroom holds 6 children with 2 teachers for a 1:3 ratio.
Toddlers
The toddler classroom is for children 18 months to 3 years. There are 6 toddlers in this group with 2 teachers for a 1:3 ratio.
Preschool
The preschool plus classroom welcomes children 2.5 years - 6 years. There are 14 children per day with 2 teachers for a 1:7 ratio
PreK may move to 15 children to accommodate a rising toddler; in this case, a 3rd staffer will join the room.
Our Approach
Shine is a small, cozy child care center located in Mt. Airy. We are housed in a building that was formerly a home and borders Mt. Airy Forest. Shine provides holistic, nurturing, nature-based, & child-led care. We provide 2 healthy snacks and a homemade lunch each day. We are Montessori-inspired, but not strictly Montessori. Our teachers create a nature-based, play-based curriculum based on the development and the interests of the children in their class.
